Each academic day (M-F) starts with a daily meeting that includes breakfast - a chance for our students and team to check in and reflect on their learnings to prepare for the day ahead. Students then spend their daytime focusing on one of our rotating courses as part of our highly-specialized curriculum. The semester starts with Discovering Your Discipline, a course that provides tools and frameworks for exploring topics of interest and ultimately helps students choose a discipline that will serve as the foundation for their Gap Year Independent Learning Project. Within each course, faculty design site visits to different cultural points around the city to further support the learning happening in the classroom and allow Gap Year students to take full advantage of living in New York. After the class day is over, students may choose to explore the city on their own, find space to work on and develop their projects, or take part in a scheduled social activity. Our Student Life Team presents various programs, outings, and events throughout the semester and works to tailor these activities to the cohort’s interests.
